2010 Smarter than Smoking WA State Quad MX Championships
Jindong Park Busselton
Round 2
May 8th 2010
Hardiman Atv Kawasaki Team.
With the 2010 Australian ATV MX Nationals being held at Jindong park, Team Hardiman took advantage of the State Rnd 2 at Jindong, to check out the track and make sure our Quads and ourselves are preppped right for the main event in October. It took a lot of help to make this happen, with Kawasaki shipping one of Paul Worths Practise quads over. The Yewers family for their massive effort collecting our quad and letting us camp out there, and the Brenton family for taking us and our Quad to the event in a very comfortable motorhome....We could get used to this !!!.
First thoughts were WOW, this track was prepped awesome, great track layout, great spectating, and with 110 quad entries we were pumped for a good day. Our Kawasaki KFX450 was going to get a workout today with Paul Worth competing in the Pro class, Todd O'leary in the Vets 35+ class. We also had a newcomer to the sport Toby Hyde, who has just been converted from the Dirt bike MX scene to QUAD MX. This was Hyde's 2nd race on a Quad and 3 riders sharing 1 Quad could turn ugly real qiuck.
Practice went fine until Paul Worth collected a rock in the Pro practice and lost the front brakes on the Kawasaki. Back in the pits new front pads were fitted and discovered our front discs were bent, with no spares we managed to get them to work good enough.
First Moto of the day was good, gave us all a feel for the track, Worth finishing 7th, O'leary finishing 6th and Hyde in 6th.
2nd moto was fairly wet, O'leary in the Vets class was first out after track watering, finishing 6th and covered in mud, we had 1 moto gap before Hyde was up for his Race a quick gerni to clean out the radiator and Hyde was up for his moto. With a better start Hyde finished in 4th, while Worths standing on the grid waiting to get the Quad back to get straight back into racing the Pro moto. Worthy Finished 6th in this moto. All looking good 2 motos down and we still havent crashed it yet.
The last moto of the day O'leary got a better start and finished 4th, Hyde with a good start finishing 2nd and Worth in the Pro class battling out with the quick WA boys finishing 7th.
Well, we made it, 9 motos, 1 Quad, and a good insight into what we need to prepare for the nationals. The track and facilities at Jindong park will make it one of the best Australian ATV nationals.......BRING IT ON.
A Big Thanks to All that made it possible for us to come over and race against some of the fastest WA quad riders. See you in October Boys.......
