Roycroft Roycroft Posts: 62	Finke Desert Race this weeekend we are in the middle of Australia at the finke Desert Race. Australias largest offroad race, will see both Rob and I, tackle the 240km each way with the total time of both days accounting for our overall postion. with the big race starting tomorrow, today we tackle the prologue, which is a timed 6km course. we head off in groups of 2 quads at a time. which will determine our starting postion tomorrow. with over 75 quads, 425 bikes and 100 buggies. Alice Springs has been turned into a motorsport mecha this week. the whole MXN crew of 12 people will be assisting Rob and i for the event, this does not include the 20 odd guys camping out in the outback at our 2 fuel stops this weekend. i will be posting some pictures later today and you can keep up to date with our prologue and race times at the following link. http://www.finkedesertrace.com.au/page- … sults.html results are updated quiet regularly. Roycroft Roycroft Posts: 62	Re: Finke Desert Race its been a long day at the races, but with some great positive results out of the MXN camp. i was 4th fastest today behind Aaron Ovens, Chad Mckay and Cameron Wade and Robert Booth 16th fastest out of the field of 67 quads. i was also 42nd fastest overall out of the 500 bikes and quads in the motorcycle category. tomorrow we head off to Finke, 240 odd km to the middle of the desert. sometime around midday is when it all starts, and approx times of 2.5hrs later we should arrive at finke. you can keep an eye on our progress with checkpoint timing at the finke website. as we have no service at finke, our next update will be when we get home monday afternoon. wish us luck. Roycroft Roycroft Posts: 62	Re: Finke Desert Race a quick finke report from one of my major sponsors, Hardiman ATV's products were a major contributor to the teams success and as you can see the top 4 riders in the ATV class are all running FOX suspension and precision steering dampners and the top 3 are all running Lonestar equpimpment. June 12 to 14 2010 was the running of the 35th annual Finke Desert race. 500 Riders and close to 100 drivers from here and overseas merged on the Outback town of Alice Springs to race 230Km's down to the small town of Finke on the Sunday and race back the following day to Alice Springs covering a total of 460Km's of desert terrain in two days. Hardiman ATV sponsor a number of riders with great products and that reflected in their results. In the dirt bike 450cc class AJ Roberts on board his CRF450 fitted with a Fox RC3 shock finished 7th in his class in a total time of 4 hours 39 minutes and 16 seconds. In the Masters class Michael Vroom of Desert Edge Motorcycles finished on his Fox RC3 equipped CRF450 in 1st place in his class with a total time of 4 hours 31 minutes and 18 seconds. In the Quad class our riders filled the top 4 positions and after 460Km's only 2 minutes and 42 seconds separated the first three riders. For the second year in a row Luke Beechey took the win on board his Polaris Outlaw 525 IRS equipped with Fox Racing Shox, Lone Star Racing A-Arms, Precision Steering Damper, Douglas Wheels and Kenda tyres. Luke completed the race in 5 hours 32 minutes and 56 seconds. Taking out second place was new comer to Desert Racing Chad McKay on board his Can-AM DS450 equipped with Fox Racing Shox, Lone Star Racing A-arms and Precision Steering Damper. Third place for the second year in a row was Michael Roycroft on board his Polaris Outlaw 525 IRS equipped with Fox Racing Shox, Lone Star Racing A-Arms, Precision Steering Damper, Douglas Wheels and Kenda tyres. Forth Place went to Paul Smith on his TRX700XX equipped with Fox Racing Shox, Precision Shock and Vibe, Moto Activ nerfs and bumper, DMC pipe and Kenda Tyres. Congratulations to all of the riders on their great results and thank you to all of the suppliers for your support and great products.
